Understanding age and dementia

Elder Care Expo 2008 presenter Kari Berit (author of "The Unexpected Caregiver: How Boomers Can Keep Mom & Dad Active, Safe and Independent") writes:
[7 March 2008 - The Republican Eagle - Red Wing, MN] In recent years, we've become painfully aware that as age increases, so too does the potential for the onset of dementia. It’s a scary prospect, but maybe not as scary as we’ve made it. ... If you’re caregiving for a parent with dementia, here are four ways to cope.

Share the trials, triumphs and tribulations of elder care with those about to begin the caregiving journey. I am looking to interview caregivers [hands-on or long distance] for an upcoming book for St. Martin’s Press. All interviews will be held in the strictest confidence, and quotes will be attributed to a pseudonym of the interviewee's choosing. It’s a great chance to have your voice heard, and to vent a little in the process!
